International Education Week

International education is all about expanding horizons, making connections, and establishing mutual understanding between people in the United States and other countries. This year International Education Week is celebrated during the week of November 17-21.

On the evening of Wednesday, November 19, 7:00 PM, Global Connections will host a digital dialogue featuring three high school exchange students in our area schools, all of whom are on programs sponsored by the US Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. Those programs are the Future Leaders Exchange (FLEX) and the Youth Exchange and Study (YES).

Enkela Nuredini (Albanian from North Macedonia), Sofa (Sofy) Malee from Thailand, and Nazerke (Naz) Omargaliyeva from Kazakhstan. Enkela is attending Bald Eagle Area High School and Sofy and Nazerke are attending Bellefonte Area High School.

Bob Persiko will moderate the program. Each student will give a 15-minute presentation on her country followed by audience Q & A. Bob was the Chief of the Youth Programs Division at the State Department when the FLEX and YES programs were created.
